During June, Governors Days provides 3 days of car shows, fireworks, music, food, parades and much, much more! For the thrifty types, Grimes participates in the Iowa Highway 141 Garage Sale, a 2 day event in the month of August that stretches over 100 miles along Highway 141 and features bargains, vendors and flea markets. During the winter, Grimes community members can deck out their houses and enter in the Outdoor Holiday Lighting Contest.

  • West Des Moines Iowa

    From its inception, the City of West Des Moines has endeavored to provide the best possible services to its citizens. The City has been recognized by several national publications and a metro-wide publication as a great place to live and conduct business. It has grown from an 1893 railroad town known as Valley Junction with a population of 500 to a hub of commerce and premier living.

Illumnifest is held in September and is a fall festival of lights that features paper lantern lightings, carnival rides, food, drinks and live music. The Valley Junction Farmers Market features over 100 vendors and generally runs May through the end of September/early October.
